I am just finishing the latest book written by a favorite author, Pat Conroy called South of Broad. He has written many great novels, The Prince of TIdes was so good that I read it twice and could not put it down, I had tears falling down my face as I read about this sad family that endured so much sadness and tragedy.
South of Broad included some of that same sad tragedy...as well as much of the same character strength. I did not have tears, but I came to love my nightly quiet moments of opportunity to read Mr. Conroys written word.
As I come to the end of a great story that has been written with strong characters I always feel that I need to take a break before starting to read my next book. I am not sure if this is to digest the story or possibly out of respect for the characters. Almost as if a friend had passed on. It is on these nights, as the pages become fewer and fewer, that are left unread, that i start to slow and stall. I don't want this story to end....I want to the characters that i have gotten to know and spend time with to continue to live on....i want to continue on their journey with them....and them with me.
